Wood glorious wood
Wooden gifts seem to seamlessly fit into any home like they have always been there, assuming it is the ‘right’ wood. (Lord knows we have all encountered the wrong wood). The right wood, however, the older it gets, the better it is. The more it reflects the patina of your household – whether that is felt tips, oil stains or moss, the better it gets.
My three favourite wooden gifts have to be my kids’ ruler from Lovestruck Interiors – the transportable, heirloom, height record; our rather awesome Geronimo swing, which has become unquantifiably more awesome now that I don’t have to lift my boys onto it, and our Mungo and Maud dog double dog bowl – no more stainless steel bowls screeching across stone floors during the chow down.
Useful, charming, gifts that have passed the five-year endurance mark and are better than when they arrived. You can’t ask for more.
